AUSTRALIA-HONG KONG FREE TRADE AGREEMENT
Dear Client,
Please be advised that the Australia-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement (A-HKFTA) enters into force on 17 January 2020.
From this date tariffs for qualifying goods produced in Hong Kong will be removed.
Like Australia’s other FTA’s the A-HKFTA has it own set of rules of origin to determine whether goods are considered originating goods.
Goods may be considered Hong Kong originating goods if they are:
- wholly obtained or produced in Hong Kong:
- produced in Hong exclusively from originating materials;
- produced in Kong Kong using non originating materials provided they meet the Product Specific Rules of Origin
Unlike the Australia-China FTA there is no requirement for a third party certification. Declaration of compliance by the supplier is sufficient provided the declaration meets Minimum Data Requirements.

Please do not hesitate to contact a member of your Southern Cross Customs Team if you need any further information or assistance with the requirements of the new FTA.
