Shanghai latest news
20th May, 2022
As you would be aware, the Shanghai lockdown continues however we are seeing some positive signs of change and some particular good news for residents that are now being allowed out of their homes for 2-3 hours per day. Many are hopeful of a return to offices around mid June. Manufacturing is however expected to take bit longer to reach full production with manufacturer’s to be working in batches at different times.
When manufacturing does return to some kind of normal, it is anticipated that there will be in excess of 260,000 containers needing to be shipped globally. The staggered approach to opening of manufacturing should allow this volume to be spread out rather than a sudden surge.
For the Australian market a new service has been announced to start from early June sailing Shanghai, Shekou, Brisbane and Sydney, it will carry 4200 TEU and operate on a 35 day round trip.
